Vitamins

Water-soluble vitamins and mineral supplements that support birds through moulting, breeding and stress.

1 product

Birds fed mainly on seed are commonly short of vitamins A, D3 and E and calcium. Supplements help close that gap, and needs rise during moulting, breeding and laying, after a move or while recovering from illness.

Using them correctly

  • Do not exceed the dose on the pack; excess fat-soluble vitamins (A and D) are harmful.
  • Refresh water-soluble vitamins daily, as they break down quickly in light and heat and encourage bacterial growth in the water.
  • Use them as a course, for example 2–3 days a week or in 2–3 week blocks.

Birds fed on pellets usually do not need extra vitamins, as pellets are already balanced and supplementing can lead to overdose. For seed-fed birds, a menu topped up with fresh vegetables and greens makes supplements far more effective.

Fluffed-up feathers, constant sleeping, changes in dropping colour or loss of appetite are more likely signs of illness than of vitamin deficiency. If you see them, see an avian vet rather than losing time with supplements.

Store vitamin products in a cool place out of the light and use them within the period stated on the label once opened. Choosing one product that matches the need, rather than combining several supplements, reduces the risk of overdosing.

Common questions about Vitamins

Should I give bird vitamins every day?

Usually not. Most products are meant to be used as a course, such as a few days a week, according to the instructions.

Which supplement helps during moulting?

Moulting formulas with biotin, amino acids (especially methionine) and B vitamins support feather growth.

How long can vitamin water stay in the cage?

No more than 24 hours. Change it more often in hot weather and wash the drinker each time.
